What is the organization that grants these credentials?
The Career Planning and Adult Development Network is a non-profit international membership organization of professionals who work with individuals in job and career transition. Founded in 1979, the Network publishes a bi-monthly Career Planning & Adult Development Network Newsletter and quarterly Career Planning & Adult Development Journal; and sponsors professional development institutes internationally. The Network's training programs are approved for continuing education hours by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).

What are these certification programs?
The Job & Career Transition Coach and the Career Development Coach programs each involve the successful completion of an intensive, hands-on workshop. Graduates must demonstrate their knowledge and skills on Transition and Development Coaching and participate fully in the training session. Only those attendees who successfully complete the programs are certified.

Who can enroll in one of the "open" enrollment certification training sessions?
Any professional who has the responsibility of counseling, guiding, advising, coaching, or training individuals in job search and/or career planning activities can enroll. While there are no rigid educational requirements, most participants hold bachelors degrees and some hold advanced degrees and formal counseling credentials. Formal counseling training is not required.

Can organizations sponsor "closed" training sessions for their staff members?
Government, educational and social service agencies can sponsor certification training programs for their employees. The organization provides the training facility, pays a set instruction and materials fee, and reimburses one trainer's hotel, meals, and travel expenses. Contact Dick Knowdell at the Network at (408) 272-3085 or e-mail: rknowdell@mac.com to discuss arranging an on-site workshop.

Will a certificate be granted?
Individuals who satisfactorily complete any of the training programs will be granted Certification by the Career Planning and Adult Development Network and receive a certificate of competence. The certification is based on the demonstrated mastery of the skills, knowledge and techniques during one of the intensive training programs.

Continuing Education Hours
Individuals Who Attend These Workshops Earn Continuing Education Hours that are Approved for National Certified Counselors by the National Board for Certified Counselors (#5055), Marriage and Family Therapists and Licensed Clinical Social Workers by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (#3111).
